Fave Aussie Flicks

I was recently talking with two Polish friends about films and mentioned the fact that although there are some Australian ones that I love, I'm not sure if I love them because I'm Australian and there's a certain flavour to these flicks that really resonates with me OR, if they're really good films that would in fact interest them also. 

Let me state early on in the game: I don't know film lingo. I don't write about films. I don't pick up the hidden messages behind the main plots. I rarely remember a soundtrack more than 5 minutes after the film's finished. I'm oblivious to the subtle nuances between one cameraman's/director's work and the next and references to previous cinematic eras generally fly right over my head.

I know - totally unforgivable, so for these reasons I'm not going to try to justify or analise my choices, just list them.

If you have some recommendations or comments though I'd love to hear from you as I do want to increase my knowledge in this area and there's obviously a lot of knowledge-increasement space available.

A walk in the Łazienki...

Yesterday I went for a short walk in the biggest park in Warsaw called The Łazienki Park (pronounced waaa-jenkee) which literally means Baths Park. It was super crowded because it was a Saturday but when I was walking next to the the lake two dare-devil squirrels jumped out in front of me and swished their tails back and forth in unison and started chattering.

I decided then and there that I'd swap possums for squirrels any day!

Tomek and I took to the country for the break... We've been sitting around the fire reading books, cooking delicious meals, walking outside in the sun next to the lake and T has also been bush bashing  ... It's so relaxing and refreshing, I wish I could stay a bit longer...
